Nature Displays for Rent

To ensure our enclosures are built to last, we test all our commercial bio-active displays for a minimum of two weeks before delivery. This ensures you receive a fully functional, reliable, and beautiful ecosystem. Each display is delivered with a custom care guide, developed through collaboration with horticulturists and exotic vets to meet the needs of the plants—and animals, if included.

We pre-set all environmental settings for you. On your end, the only tasks are feeding the animal and spot cleaning for the first 1–2 months—after that, the bioactive system takes over. Prefer a hands-off approach? We offer a full maintenance plan with bi-weekly visits.

That’s great to hear! Once your 3-week trial ends, you can choose from a range of ongoing rental plans. We offer flexible monthly subscriptions with no lock-in contracts. Options include:

• Self-Maintained Plan – for those confident in day-to-day care, with monthly servicing included.
• Bi-Weekly Serviced Plan – our most popular: includes full maintenance, health checks, and upgrades.
• Custom Plans – tailored servicing schedules, plant rotations, or animal swaps for ongoing variety.

We offer rapid response support. If anything looks off—whether it’s lighting, plant health, or animal behavior—our team is just a call or email away. We aim to resolve all issues within 24-48 hours, and for more urgent matters, we can dispatch a technician sooner.

Simply contact the direct number you are given, this number is the number of the enclosure designer that designed your enclosure. 

All animals come with a simple care sheet tailored specifically to your setup, and approved by our local veterinary partnership. For frogs and similar display species, this usually includes:

• Feeding 3–4 times per week with provided live food
• Ensuring clean, de-chlorinated water is always available
• Spot-cleaning any visible waste
• Letting the bioactive system handle the rest
   

If you're on our maintenance plan, we’ll handle deeper cleaning, health checks, and enclosure adjustments. We also provide full support if you’re unsure about anything—just reach out!

Each Biota Studio feature is a fully-functioning self contained bioactive ecosystem. That means it contains living organisms that work together symbiotically just like in nature: plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, while microfauna (like springtails, isopods, and worms) break down waste and recycle nutrients into the soil. The ecosystem is self-regulating, meaning it requires minimal intervention to stay healthy, balanced, and thriving. We also install automatic lighting and misting to ensure the ecosystem has all it needs to keep going.

Absolutely. We tailor each display to match your space’s lighting, humidity, and overall aesthetic. Whether you want something lush and vibrant or sleek and minimalist, we’ll design an ecosystem to suit your style. Custom dimensions and plant types are also available.

However, due to it's bespoke nature, the custom ecosystem displays have a wait-time of 4-6 weeks (two of which are testing,  and monitoring)

Need an additional visit outside your regular servicing schedule? No problem. Simply contact us via email at maintenance@biotastudio.com.au or through your customer portal (provided upon sign-up). We’ll schedule a technician to visit at your earliest convenience. Extra visits are available as part of your plan or as one-off add-ons depending on your subscription.

Yes. All animals included in our displays are carefully selected for temperament, safety, and environmental suitability. Our enclosures are fully sealed and designed to meet strict welfare and containment standards provided by the DPI. We also provide care information and offer full support to ensure both safety and welfare are maintained.

Yes! We offer a FREE 3-week trial with full installation, maintenance, and removal included. This gives you the chance to experience the impact of a living ecosystem in your space before making any long-term decisions.

Every display is backed by our performance guarantee. If a plant or animal appears unwell, we’ll replace or rehabilitate it at no extra cost as part of your plan. You also get access to our expert team for troubleshooting any concerns.

On our standard bi-weekly maintenance plan, we visit every two weeks to check animal health (if applicable), clean glass, prune plants, top up water, check lighting/timers, and refresh the ecosystem as needed. Emergency support is always available in between.

We recommend keeping it in its initial location, but if a move is necessary (e.g. office relocation), we can assist with safe relocation and reinstallation. Just give us at least 7 days' notice to schedule the move.

Yes! We offer Tropical Plant Hire as a standalone service or as an add-on to your ecosystem plan. After assessing your space’s lighting and humidity, we’ll curate and maintain a tailored collection of vibrant, thriving plants.

We have multiple sizes to suit different environments—from compact tabletop displays to large standalone installations. Our smallest units fit on a side table or reception counter, while our larger displays need about 1–1.5m² of floor space. We’ll help you find the perfect fit during your consultation.
